My friend Tal emailed me today with word from his buddy Dag Juhlin
(whose a member of Poi Dog, the Slugs and The Goldstars) saying a
reliable source has it the Replacements are reforming and recording.
Supposedly they have 3 songs, and are working on a possible albums
worth. Also rumored was a possible Coachella headlining spot and
reunion (a la Pixies). Apparently Westerberg, Stinson, and Slim Dunlop
are in the fold, with Chris Mars not on board (apparently he hasn't
touched a kit in 12 years). I guess there would be some sort of fill-in
drummer on skins.

drummers are kind of like guitar stands: if you've misplaced yours at the end of the night, just take the closest available one. they're all pretty much the same.

now there wouldn’t be anyone to rule the world.

But as with guitar stands, make sure you pick a steady one that doesn't tip over and spill your beer.

Chris Mars is quite an accomplished painter nowadays doesn't surprise me about dropping the drumsticks. Here's a link to some of his work:

Default Seriously.

Speaking of drummers, if someone knows a drummer who doesn't tip over and spill beer and can play a double bass, send them my way.

"Don't You Know Who I Think I Was?: The Best of the Replacements." Due June 13 via Rhino, the set will feature "Message to the Boys" and "Pool & Dive," the band's first new recordings in 16 years.

Session drummer Josh Freese was behind the kit for the new recordings, while Mars contributed backing vocals. The songs were written by Westerberg and were recorded at producer Ed Ackerson's Flowers studio in Minneapolis.

love The Replacements, but don't know how excited i am about this. sure it's cool that they got together and recorded a couple songs, but without Chris on drums, Bob no longer here, and no live shows, it's not much of a reunion. missed their chance to do it at the Rock For Karl show.

also, i hate it when i have to buy a greatest hits album with all songs i already have just to hear 2 new songs - argh...
