Default Alarmists are ok

For those of you who heard The Alarmists were in a van accident, it's true, but everyone is ok.

On their way home from the Entry on Friday they were hit by a party bus and it totaled their van. There's a broken nose, a cut hand, and a few concussions, but they had a sober driver and all were wearing seatbelts.

Just wanted to let you know.

From their MySpace:

An Alarmists Adventure: Crashing The Van

Before rumors fly and people are misinformed, we thought it best to say a few words about something that happened to us Friday night. After leaving a hell of a fun show at the Entry, we crashed our band van. Everyone is ok! We were very lucky and we are grateful.

Two of our members ended up in the ER with minor injuries; they will be ok. We are working on getting insurance stuff figured out, etc. and hope to have a new set of wheels shortly. The show must go on!

And now a few words about the van. We dubbed the van "Van Damme", and on occasion would refer to him as "Jean-Claude". He was a good friend to us. And now, we've done what bad guys have failed to do for 20 odd years: we've killed Van Damme. RIP Van Damme.

With this said, we thank you all for your concern and support. This is a reminder to all of us to drive carefully and not to take things for granted.

Sincerely,

The Alarmists

haha...

They have a new EP coming out at SXSW. I look forward to hearing it. It has this photo on the cover:

Some personal damage- a broken nose, concussions, stitches. Stuff that they will live through that is no fun. The van was totaled (and their driver was sober, as I know that's the subtext) but should be covered by insurance. All their gear works and they are alive.

Of all the crazy parts of the rock & roll lifestyle we're familiar with, getting to and from gigs is often the most dangerous part.

Let's be careful out there, as they say.

Which reminds me...

Well, your CD collection looks shiny and costly.
How much did you pay for your bad Moto Guzzi?
And how much did you spend on your black leather jacket?
Is it you or your parents in this income tax bracket?

Now tickets to concerts and drinking at clubs,
Sometimes for music that you haven't even heard of.
And how much did you pay for your rock'n'roll t-shirt
That proves you were there,
That you heard of them first?

How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
Ah, tell me.

How much did you pay for the chunk of his guitar,
The one he ruthlessly smashed at the end of the show?
And how much will he pay for a brand new guitar,
One which he'll ruthlessly smash at the end of another show?
And how long will the workers keep building him new ones?
As long as their soda cans are red, white, and blue ones.
And how long will the workers keep building him new ones?
As long as their soda cans are red, white, and blue ones.

Aging black leather and hospital bills,
Tattoo removal and dozens of pills.
Your liver pays dearly now for youthful magic moments,
But rock on completely with some brand new components.

How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?

Excess ain't rebellion.
You're drinking what they're selling.
Your self-destruction doesn't hurt them.
Your chaos won't convert them.
They're so happy to rebuild it.
You'll never really kill it.
Yeah, excess ain't rebellion.
You're drinking what they're selling.
Excess ain't rebellion.
You're drinking,
You're drinking,
You're drinking what they're selling.

Having the whole band die in a car wreck and be awesome for record sales.
