11/25/2007 The Mood Swings Get Blessed by the Guitar Gods

HowWasTheShow friend and photographer Sara Montour took this epic shot of The Mood Swings guitarist Ashley Prenzlow at The Varsity Theater on Friday. The Mood Swings were only one of many great bands opening for Ed Ackerson as he threw a big ol' party to celebrate the release of his self-titled solo debut. Janey and Marc and Strange Lights also entertained the crowd in anticipation of Ackerson's performance that night, and The Melismatics brought it all home by closing out the evening. The stage almost literally exploded during Ackerson's performance with his band that included Eric Lovold (The Alarmists), Marc Perlman (Jayhawks, Golden Smog), and Peter Anderson and Tim Osseau of Polara. Gary Louris (Jayhawks, Golden Smog) even joined for a couple songs.
