Dan Schultz of Mordac.org was one of many photographers at the release party for Jim Walsh’s The Replacements: All Over But the Shouting: An Oral History at First Avenue last Wednesday. The joy of the event was as clear in the faces of those attending as it was in those who played onstage. And there were even occasional overlaps.
In this photo, the First Avenue crowd features blissed-out members of the Twin Cities music and fashion scene as they listen to the music on the main stage. How many people can you recognize in this picture? Or maybe you are even in it?
On Dan’s site he summed up the event: “Lots of drinking, a bit of chaos, a little shouting, lots of bad covers... yeah, sounds like the 'Mats. Well, actually, the covers weren't half-bad. Ringleader Jim Walsh was never far from the stage and a good portion of the crowd was either cajoled or stumbled up there as well.”
