1/14/2009 Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps

This week’s Photo of the Week is of Caroline Smith of Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps and comes to us courtesy of Stacy Schwartz of Staciaann Photography and CakeIn15.com.

Stacy attended Saturday’s sold out Caroline’s sold out show w/ Jeremy Messersmith in the Entry, and Carl Swanson filed this report (including videos) on Cake in 15.

Stacy’s photos were also featured in the City Pages Review of that show by Andrea Swensson who said, “Her music is beautiful in its simplicity: a style of delicate, lighthearted folk, the sparse instrumentation was the perfect backdrop to her mesmerizing voice.”

We were fortunate enough to get Stacy’s permission to use one of her photos of Caroline here as well.

Incidentally, Stacy, a long time friend of HowWasTheShow, has been nominated for Vita.mn’s “2009 Hotness Contest.”  We’d be delighted if she won (VOTE FOR HER HERE!), especially since she says she’ll invite her music geek friends to party with her if she takes home the top honor.  Since Stacy’s “music geek friends” as she calls them would likely include me, I say, vote early and vote often for Staciaann because Staciaann = Hotness.  Voting ends Thursday, January 22^nd at midnight.

Caroline Smith plays next at Radio K's and First Avenue's Best New Bands of 2009 showcase at First Avenue on Wednesday, January 14th.  Also on the bill are Bouncer Fighter, The Dynamiters, Kristoff Krane, Lookbook, Lucy Michelle & The Velvet Lapelles and Yer Cronies.  It's hosted by 89.3 The Current's David Campbell & Cities 97's Jason Nagel
