7/13/2009 The Best of Minneapolis Music Rocks the Basilica

For local music fans, this year's Basilica Block Party was the place to be Friday and Saturday nights, as two of the Cities most popular bands united to rock.  Friday night saw the Jayhawks finally come back together with blended harmonies and strong guitar sounds.  Saturday night The Hold Steady came from Brooklyn to remind everyone they still know where their real home is.  Craig Finn gestured fervently in the direction of places like Lyndale Avenue and Loring Park as words from their songs came to life.  Finn put it best when he said, "A lot of things have changed in Minneapolis, except for two houses of worship - the Basilica and First Avenue."  Amen, brother.
