11/21/2009 The Mood Swings CD Release

Our Photo of the Week this week is bittersweet.  It’s sweet because it's an awesome shot of Ashley and Ed Ackerson of The Mood Swings at their CD Release Party for their new album Recessionista at Sauce Spirits & Soundbar. The Twin Cities music scene turned out in force Friday night to help the Mood Swings celebrate as they shared the bill with bands Blue Sky Blackout, Two Harbors and First Communion Afterparty.

 

It’s bitter because this week’s photo comes to us from HowWasTheShow’s BFF Sara Montour who is leaving Minneapolis to move to Seattle on Sunday, November 22^nd.

Montour has been a major photographic contributor to HWTS over the years and was the voice of SXSW for us in 2009 when she audio blogged from the Austin music festival. Montour’s plans? “I’m going to be pouring everything into photography and hopefully capturing a million moments out there. Not to mention running around by the ocean, mountains, and the rainforests. YEAH!”

When asked how she created this particular photo, she said, “It was a reflection in the door. I kept getting the craziest looks from people.”

Congrats Mood Swings on a killer CD Release Party. And good luck, Sara. We’ll miss you.
