4/22/2007 Colm Mac Con Iomaire of the Frames
The Frames made their first ever appearance at First Avenue on Tuesday, April 17th, 2007, and their ever-growing arsenal of rabid fans welcomed the opportunity to see them. I took this photo of Frames fiddle player Colm Mac Con lomaire mid-set. Frames frontman Glen Hansard seemed to enjoy the chance to play the main stage, even furnishing a crazy Prince-style guitar solo in the middle of “When the Heart Just Stops” as well as a lyrical play on Van Morrison's "Caravan."
Songs from the Frames New Album, The Cost featured prominently, including the familiar but until now yet unrecorded “People Get Ready” as the set opener. “God Bless Mom” with its pile-driver first bars is always a favorite, and “Lay Me Down,” “Keepsake” and other Frames standards did not disappoint. . Rob Skoro opened the evening with a full band show and was a steady and professional hand.
